•   पीएम मोदी ने कर्नाटक और महाराष्ट्र में लगभग 50,000 करोड़ रुपये की जल सुरक्षा, किसान कल्याण और सड़क संपर्क से संबंधित विभिन्न विकास परियोजनाओं की आधारशिला रखी और उन्हें समर्पित किया।
•  पीएम ने कर्नाटक में नारायणपुर लेफ्ट बैंक कैनाल - एक्सटेंशन रेनोवेशन एंड मॉडर्नाइजेशन प्रोजेक्ट (NLBC - ERM) का भी उद्घाटन किया।  10,000 क्यूसेक की नहर क्षमता वाली परियोजना से 4.5 लाख हेक्टेयर कमान क्षेत्र की सिंचाई की जा सकती है।

 1. जम्मू-कश्मीर प्रशासन ने शस्त्र लाइसेंस जारी करने पर लगाए गए प्रतिबंध को हटा दिया।  राजस्थान पुलिस के आतंकवाद-रोधी दस्ते (एटीएस) द्वारा एक बंदूक लाइसेंस रैकेट के बाद 2018 में प्रतिबंध लगाया गया था, जिसमें कुछ आईएएस अधिकारियों सहित सार्वजनिक अधिकारियों के नाम का खुलासा किया गया था।  एक आदेश ने जिलाधिकारियों (डीएम) को शस्त्र लाइसेंस जारी करने और अतिरिक्त शर्तों का पालन करने की अनुमति दी।

 2. बीएसएफ ने राजस्थान के श्री गंगानगर में भारत-पाक सीमा पर एक ड्रोन को मार गिराने के बाद दो लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया और लगभग 6.150 किलोग्राम हेरोइन जब्त की।  उन्होंने कहा, "पाकिस्तान बार-बार हेरोइन...भारतीय सीमा पर ड्रोन के जरिए भेजने की कोशिश कर रहा है।

 3. तमिलनाडु के विरुधुनगर जिले के थायिलपट्टी में एक पटाखा निर्माण इकाई में हुए विस्फोट में दो श्रमिकों की मौत हो गई।

हाल के महीनों में खुदरा मुद्रास्फीति 6% ऊपरी बैंड से नीचे गिरने के साथ, भारत की मौद्रिक नीति समिति (एमपीसी) का पहला मील का पत्थर पारित हो गया है, आरबीआई मासिक बुलेटिन आज जारी किया गया। इसके बाद, जनवरी बुलेटिन के अनुसार, भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था में व्यापक आर्थिक स्थिरता में सुधार देखा गया है, मुद्रास्फीति को सहिष्णुता बैंड में लाया जा रहा है और प्रमुख संकेतक चालू खाता घाटा कम करने का संकेत दे रहे हैं।

 महिला अधिकारी विशेष नंबर 3 चयन बोर्ड इन अधिकारियों को उनके पुरुष समकक्षों के बराबर लाने के लिए 9 से 22 जनवरी तक "लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल के रैंक" से पदोन्नति के लिए मूल्यांकन करेगा।

  जूनियर बैचों में महिला अधिकारियों के लिए स्थायी कमीशन भी शुरू हो गया है, जिसमें उन्हें सेवा के 10वें वर्ष में पीसी के लिए माना जाता है।

1. J&K administration revoked the ban it imposed on the issuance of arms licences. The ban was imposed in 2018 after a gun licence racket by the Rajasthan Police's Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) unveiled the name of public officials, including some IAS officers. An order permitted the district magistrates (DMs) to issue arms licences and adhere to additional conditions.

2.  BSF arrested two persons after they shot down a drone at the Indo-Pak border in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar and seized around 6.150 kg of heroin. "Pakistan is repeatedly trying to send heroin to...Indian border through drones. 

3. Two workers were killed in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Thaiyilpatti in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district. 

4. Delhi court on Thursday sent Harish Chandra, the man accused of molesting and dragging the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chief Swati Maliwal, to 14-day judicial custody.

With retail inflation falling below the 6% upper band in recent months, the first milestone of India's monetary policy committee (MPC) is passed, the RBI monthly bulletin released today said. Subsequently, India's economy has seen improvement in macroeconomic stability with inflation being brought into the tolerance band and lead indicators suggesting current account deficit on course to narrow, according to the January Bulletin.

The central bank digital currency (CBDC) or the eRupee cannot be, currently, converted into cash and vice versa. eRupee will be issued against bank deposits only by the RBI. It will allow digital currency conversion into cash.   Chief General Manager at RBI’s fintech department Anuj Ranjan said that the pilot project has progressed quite satisfactorily in a closed-user group and that the number of users is gradually rising, according to a report. Ranjan said that the apex bank will bear costs relating to eRupee as it is part of RBI’s liabilities.

1. Army considering 244 women officers for 108 command role posts. 

A total of 244 women officers are being considered for promotion against 108 vacancies, in various arms and services of the Indian Army, by a selection board. 

Women Officers Special No. 3 Selection Board will assess these officers for promotion from "the rank of Lt Col to Col", from January 9-22 to bring them at par with their male counterparts.

 Permanent commission to women officers in junior batches has also commenced, in which they are considered for PC in their 10th year of service. 

2. Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt,   while addressing NCC Cadets of Republic Day Camp 2023 at Delhi Cantt in New Delhi said that,

 NCC is a shining example of “Unity in Diversity'', and since its formation, it has played a stellar role in grooming the youth of the country. 

3. Fifth Scorpene-class Submarine INS VAGIR to be commissioned on Jan 23.The submarine is a part of the Project-75 which involves the Scorpene or the Kalvari-class diesel-electric attack submarines by the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited.

The fifth of the Scorpene-class submarines -- Vagir -- would be commissioned on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and ahead of the Republic Day festivities.
